Zelda Sears (1873-1935), an actress and playwright, married Louis C. Wiswell, a theatrical manager.
The collection consists of papers documenting the career of Zelda Sears and her husband, Louis C. Wiswell, from 1910-1941. Includes scrapbooks, correspondence, telegrams, notebooks, scripts, photographs, and music scores. The scrapbook contains mostly clippings (1910-1911) relating to "The Nest Egg", a play in which Sears starred. The notebooks contain anecdotes, jokes, quips, and brief outlines, evidently to be used in some of Sears' plays. The scripts are mainly of plays written by Sears', with a few written by others. The collection also includes short stories, scenarios, and lyrics written by Sears; photographs of plays particularly "The Nest Egg" and "The Show Shop"; and some correspondence and telegrams to Zelda and her husband from such show business people as Billie Burke, George M. Cohan, Jerome Kern, Jeanette MacDonald, and E.D. Starr.
