Historical Note

James Henry Lane (1833-1907), a Virginian by birth and education, received his commission as brigadier general in the Army of Northern Virginia in 1862. After the war he taught at several institutions, most particularly the Alabama next hit Polytechnic Institute from 1882-1907.
