The collection consists of one letter: dated Savannah, June 13, 1833, to "William Bard," signed "George Schley," regarding the purchase of an insurance policy for a friend. Schley describes the individual in this fashion: "His habits of life are regular & temperate - his character elevated - he pursued Literature and Science, being a Professor in Franklin College at Athens in the State of Georgia, a place remarkable for its salubrity..."
