Abstract: This collection consists of a wooden ballot box used in the Third District of Dooly County, GA for some period between 1928 and 1980. It also includes three documents commissioning James Vanderbilt Joiner as a Justice of the Peace in Dooly County, a reproduction of the deed conveying a portion of Joiner's land to be used for the third district courthouse, and a a copy of, Lessons from the Ladder, by Joiner's grandson, Neil. |
The wooden ballot box was used in the third district courthouse, Dooly GA for some period between 1928 and 1980. James Vanderbilt Joiner was a justice of the peace and elections overseer in that district from approximately 1925-1940.
The original commissions are extremely brittle. Access copies can be found in folder 1.
