Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteEmmanuel Episcopal Church was organized in 1842 and received into the Diocese as a parish in 1843. Originally located at the corner of Clayton and Lumpkin Streets a new chapel opened on Prince Avenue in 1892. Scope and ContentThis collection includes church registers from the Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Athens, Georgia. The registers include parishioners, baptisms, conformations, communicants, marriages, and deaths with a number of enslaved people named. Some of the registers list cause of death and location of burial.
