 George Fontaine Sr. music ephemera collection
Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteGeorge Fontaine Sr. is an American record company executive and producer. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1976, and opened the Georgia Theatre in the late 1970s. He founded the Austin Texas based Doolittle Records in 1992 with Jeff Cole, then merged with New West Records in 2000, where Fontaine eventually became co-owner and president. He opened the Athens, Georgia office of New West in in 2010, and then co-founded New West's Normaltown Records imprint with his son, George Fontaine Jr. in 2012. He also Founded Strolling Bones Records in 2020. Mr. Fontaine received the 2023 lifetime achievement award by the Americana Music Association and was added to the Athens Georgia Music Walk of Fame in 2024.
