Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteDr. Carl R. Hartrampf Jr. (1932-2019) attended the University of Georgia and received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1956. A pioneer in reconstructive plastic surgery, he developed the TRAM flap which uses a small portion of abdominal tissue to reconstruct the breast after mastectomy. Dr. Hartrampf received the American Cancer Society Distinguished Service Award for the development of this widely used approach for breast reconstruction. Scope and ContentThis collection contains correspondence, subject files, photographs and writing documenting Dr. Hartrampf's career from medical school, through residency, and into practice, as well as his writing and lecturing activities.
