Nancy Ellison collection
Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteNancy Ellison (1936-) is a photographer, writer and artist who has published several books of her photography featuring celebrities, ballet and opera performers, and won a World Press Photography prize in 1996. She has photographed Barbie dolls of every kind and produced several Barbie Live calendars. Ms. Ellison also created paintings, drawings, and mixed media images using her photographs. She was married to Robert Ellison (1932-2021) in 1958 and had a daughter, Hillary. She married movie producer and director Jerome Hellman in 1973, and later married theater and opera producer and former chairman of Mattel, Inc. William Rollnick. Scope and ContentThis collection contains working files, artifacts, and photographic materials used over a long career in portrait and still photography covering a wide range of subjects. Slides and polaroids, transparencies, contact sheets and prints of many sizes and formats are included of celebrities, dancers, opera performers, politicians, movie stills, and projects including Barbie Live calendars, figurative and mixed media collaborations. There are many photographs and some correspondence with Bill and Hillary Clinton included.
