Margaret Bass letter
Collection DescriptionScope and ContentConsists of one letter written by Mrs. Margaret Bass, a hotel keeper at Perry House in Columbus, Georgia, to a Mrs. Semmes. The letter was written during the Chattanooga Campaign in the Civil War, which was a series of battles that took place from September through November 1863. Mrs. Bass writes that wounded were brought to town from Tennessee and that horses were taken from the local citizens for General Bragg's soldiers.
