Crutchfield served in Company D of the 57th Georgia Infantry Regiment, he was captured in 1863 during the Battle of Vicksburg but soon paroled, then continued serving the Confederate States Army to the war's end. Scope and ContentThis collection contains one letter from R.F. Crutchfield to his brother and sister written from Proctor's Pointe, South Carolina in April of 1864.
