Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteJames (Jim) E. Butler, Sr. was born on December 27th, 1923. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of eighteen to serve in World War II. After the completion of the war, Butler transferred to the Naval Reserve. For many years, he worked as a mechanical engineer responsible for buildings throughout the state. In 1966, Jim Butler retired from the Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of orders, reports, forms, and other documents from Jim Butler's career in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Naval Reserve shortly after the war's end.
