Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteAlbert Danner Thomson Jr (1925-2004) and Ruby Kate Ingram (1917-2010) were related by marriage; Thomson was married to Ingram's sister, Esther. Albert Danner Thomson Jr. (1925-2004) lived in Georgia and married Esther Ingram. He was a private in the U.S. Army and served during World War II. His father, Albert Danner Thomson, was a well-known politician, having served as Atlanta City Councilman and Executive Secretary to Mayor Asa Griggs Candler. Ruby Kate Ingram died at the age of 92. She also lived in Georgia and did not marry. She earned a Master's Degree in Nursing from the University of Georgia, her Nurse Anesthetist degree from Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was employed by several hospitals in Georgia. Scope and ContentThe collection focuses primarily on World War II, although some materials are from the late 20th century. The World War II materials include war diaries from both Albert Danner Thomson, Jr. and Ruby Kate Ingram. Other items include Ingram's uniform, other written records of her service, and newspapers collected into a large scrapbook from 1945. The late 20th century materials focus on Jimmy Carter's election and inauguration and the 1969 Moon Landing.
