Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteNunnally Hunter Johnson (1897-1977) born in Columbus, Georgia, was first a journalist and writer of short stories. He later moved to Hollywood where he worked as a scriptwriter and everntually a writer, producer, and director of motion pictures. He wrote the Tobacco Road screenplay for the movie released in 1941. The screenplay was adapted from Erskine Caldwell's novel and Jack Kirkland's play of the same name. Scope and ContentTwo bound scripts for the film Tobacco Road, based on the screenplay by Nunnally Johnson. One script is a temporary script while the other is a continuity and dialogue script.
