Collection DescriptionScope and ContentThe collection consists of miscellaneous writings and compilations of historical records collected and compiled by workers of the Works Progress Administration of Georgia and Georgia Writers' Project from 1934-1942. Inculded are the Works Progress Administration of Georgia History Records Survey, Field Worker's Correspondence Forms; State Editorial Identification Forms; Questionnaire to all mayors for data on points of interest in cities; Federal Writer's Project, Instructions for Architectural Series, American Building Materials; and correspondence from Works Progress Administration of Georgia, Atlanta, Georgia, regarding compilation of The American Guide and the State Guide. The remainder of the collection contains histories of Georgia cities, towns, and people, including (but not limited to) hospitals, parks, military organizations, landmarks, music, architecture, and agriculture. General NotesThe Works Progress Administration (WPA) of Georgia miscellaneous papers collection is an aggregation of papers culled from vertical files that were housed in the Georgia Room at The University of Georgia Main Library. Due to the move from the Main Library to the Special Collections Libraries building in 2012, the vertical files were dismantled. Materials in this collection, donated over the course of a few years, were donated by different members of the Work's Progress Administration, and now make up Works Progress Administration (WPA) of Georgia miscellaneous papers.
