Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteThe Oconee Heritage Foundation was organized in 1974 with the purpose of identifying and preserving natural, historical, and architectural sites in Oconee County, Georgia. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of correspondence, membership lists, minutes, photographs and printed material. Projects of the Foundation include: listing of the cemeteries in the county, preservation and use of Eagle Tavern as a museum and historic site, tour of homes, and nomination and designation of South Main Street Historic District in Watkinsville on the National Register of Historic Places.
