Collection DescriptionHistorical Note"In 1958 the armory site was purchased by the Chicopee division of Johnson & Johnson, and for the next 20 years was locally called the Chicopee Mill. A New England firm, Athens made the sixth Southern Chicopee mill, manufacturing various cotton textiles, such as surgical gauze, tobacco and print cloth, and diapers.
