Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteThe Metropolitan Atlanta Transportation Initiative was a group established in 1998 to address the growing traffic problem in Atlanta. The board consisted of community and business leaders who met every 4-5 weeks to discuss a proposal for alleviating traffic issues in the metropolitan Atlanta region. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of presentations given to the board of the Metropolitan Atlanta Transportation Initiative (MATI) in 1998, as well as press releases and background information. Topics addressed include creating a highly informed community; recommending a regional transit authority; and employer initiatives to help reduce traffic congestion. The MATI board's final recommendations are also included.
