Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteIn 1883 Bowen-Jewell & Co. was a cotton mill located in Jewell (Hancock and Warren counties, Georgia). Previously known as Jewell's Mill and Jewell, Bodfish and Eldridge. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of a ledger book of Bowen-Jewell & Co. The ledger lists customers' name, items purchased, and price, from 1873-1875. The collection also includes receipts of items sold to Bowen-Jewell & Co. from 1900-1908, a few business letters addressed to Bowen Jewell & Company, and a wooden receipt holder. Written on the bottom side of the receipt holder: Bowen Jewell & Co., Mayfield, Ga.
