Collection DescriptionScope and ContentThe collection consists of papers of George Augustus Gordon and the Gordon family from 1676-1895. Materials from the early years relate to Gordon's ancestors in Maine and New Hampshire and mainly contain receipts, tax records, and genealogical records. Materials concerning the United States Civil War consist of passes, orders, commissions, and a few letters relating to Gordon's duties as Assistant Quartermaster General of Georgia.
