Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteNathan C. Munroe (1757-1885) was a central Georgia businessman and banker. He was a prime mover in the industrial development of the region. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of documents and a letter signed by Nathan C. Munroe. These papers refer to the establishment of a branch of the Mechanics Bank of Augusta in Macon. The papers further relate to financial, discount, deposit, and circulation matters of the bank and are most often countersigned by Augusta bank officials G. B. Carhart and A. Sibley.
