Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteJohn Elliott (1773-1827) was born in St. Johns Parish (Liberty County), Georgia, graduated from Yale in 1794 and began the practice of law in Sunbury in 1797. Active in local political affairs, he was elected to the United States Senate and served from 1819-1825. For more information, see his congressional biography.
