Scope and ContentThe collection consists of papers of Reverend John Jones and the Jones family from 1775-1928. Contains extensive family correspondence (1805-1942) including letters of John Jones; his wife Jane A. Jones; his children John Dunwoody Jones, Mary Cornelia Jones, Joseph H. Jones, and John C. Jones; his brothers and sisters Reverend Charles C. Jones, Mary Jones, J.N. Jones, and Sallie A. Dunwoody and her husband William J. Dunwoody. Records relating directly to John Jones include sermons (1830-1883), various diaries and financial ledgers, legal documents, and materials relating to the Presbyterian Church. The collection contains some material relating to various Jones family plantations in Georgia including Hopestill and Bonaventure. The papers also include scrapbooks, photographs, newspaper clippings, records of enslaved persons, court records, and legal documents.
