Salary Equity for Women and Minority Faculty report
Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteIn 1989, President Knapp initiated a study to examine salaries for institutional bias against women, which suggested a substantial bias. An allocation of funds was made available to reduce the bias against women. In 1993, the Office of Vice President for Academic Affairs conducted a statistical analysis to determine if institutional bias existed for female and African American faculty. Additionally, promotion and merit raise histories were studied and there was no evidence of institutional bias. Scope and ContentThe collection includes memoranda from William Prokasy regarding salary equity; a summary of gender and racial equity in faculty salary, raises, and promotions; and the final report on the monitoring of salary equity.
