Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteWilliam Ramsey is an Associate Professor in the College of Environment and Design where he teaches site planning and site engineering studio. He is active in real estate, has headed architectural firms and for a number of years served on the Oconee County Planning Commission. Ramsey has a BLA from UGA, a MLA from Harvard and is a recipient of the CELA Award of Distinction. Scope and ContentThis collection consists of architectural drawings that were created by William Ramsey's architectural firms from 1960 through 1996. Most of Ramsey's work is for architecture in Georgia, particularly the Atlanta area, with a notable exception consisting of drawings submitted for a City of Boston competition. His drawings include numerous plans for parks such as Heritage Park in Oconee County and University Center (an urban renewal park) in Atlanta. The collection has Ramsey's public housing designs for the Atlanta Housing Authority Project and campus master plans for various Georgia college (including UGA) campuses. In addition, there are drawings for subdivisions, single homes, condominiums and apartments in Atlanta and around the State. Organization and ArrangementThe collection is arranged into five series: 1. single family/subdivision, 2. parks, 3. multi-family/apartments/ condos, 4. campus, and 5. miscellaneous.
