The information used in the inventory consists largely of the information recorded by Richter on his storage envelopes. The envelopes were arranged alphabetically by the information recorded by Richter, but have been rearranged in five broad categories: campus groups, locations, and events; World War II at UGA; university athletics; fraternities and sororities; and individual portraits. In a few instances, damage to an envelope obliterated information. In several other cases the negatives were damaged, but images were still taken from them for historical interest.
