Collection Description

Scope and Content

A letter from Sarah Hunt, addressed to "my dear son" and dated "Riedmont, Feb. 14, 1862." The letter states that Sarah Hunt sent $65, which is all the money she could raise. She hopes that this will pay his and William's board bill and bring them home, and says that "this war is a terrible affair on mothers." She also suggests selling their "notes" in Richmond because "... the Brokers in Richmond are paying a premium for New York funds..."
