The collection consists of a letter from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow to Andrew A. Lipscomb dated Cambridge, July 4, 1853. Longfellow discusses his view of slavery "the meanest form of tyranny," the influence of newspapers upon public opinion, and his future meeting with Lipscomb. The collection also consists of a covering letter from Rutherford Ellis to President O.C. Aderhold, dated December 3, 1963.
