William J. Dickey owned Dickey Plantation, in Thomas County, Georgia.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of seven diaries kept by William J. Dickey, from 1858-1859, and 1879-1889. Entries discuss agricultural matters (planting and harvesting of cotton and corn); killing hogs; weather conditions; and family matters. The collection also includes a plat of Dickey Plantation (later known as Birdsong Plantation), located in the Rare Books vault, hmap1871j3.
