Joseph Baumer (1848-1924) was a Confederate veteran, businessman, and worked in the U.S. Department of the Navy. He was born in Guebwiller, France and immigrated to Montgomery, Alabama. He was married to Adelia Sevier (1850-1896) and had four sons, Herbert H, Woodruff L., Sevier S. and Joseph L. Baumer. He was later married to Margaret Johnson (1862-1902) and had a daughter Margaret F. Baumer. He was then married to Katherine Semmes (1877-1963).
