Collection Description

Historical Note

Walter McElreath was an Atlanta attorney, businessman and chairman of the board of the Atlanta Federal Savings and Loan. He was also one of the founders of the Atlanta Historical Society.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of papers of Walter McElreath from 1910-1949. The papers contain writings and speeches of McElreath. The majority of the writings deal with the Georgia Constitution and Georgia history. The speeches, given before bar associations, historical groups, and while he was in the legislature, deal with Georgia government and politics, law, the Georgia constitution, and Georgia history.
