Historical Note

Elijah Alexander Brown (1857-) was born in Canton, Georgia and was a graduate of the University of Georgia. He was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity and Phi Kappa Society. He married Henrietta Law McBride (d. 1896), daughter of Colonel Andrew J. McBride, in 1894.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of one letter: dated Athens, July 27, 1879, to "My dear Elijah," signed "Eustace W. Speer," regarding Speer's having received Brown's speech. Brown's speech, True Manliness, is also included in the collection.
