Collection Description

Historical Note

Dr. Thomas N. Lumsden (1925-2014) was a physician, local researcher, and published author from Sautee-Nacoochee Valley, White County, Georgia. Dr. Lumsden practiced medicine from 1950-1993 and conducted local history and archeology research in Northeast Georgia, specifically the Nacoochee Valley area. In 1989, he published his book Nacoochee Valley: Its Times and Its Places. Dr. Lumsden passed away on January 17, 2014.

Scope and Content

Collection consists of research done by Dr. Thomas Lumsden. Dr. Lumsden's research focuses on genealogy, railroads, mills, and Sautee-Nacoochee Valley in White County, Georgia. Notable items include extensive genealogy files, research and blueprints on the Morse Brothers Lumber Company, and photographs of late 19th and early 20th century gold mines and lumber mills.
