Historical Note

Emory James Hall (1901-1959) was son of Lucy E. Seymour Hall (1863-1948) and Howell C. Hall (1860-1936). In his letters, he appears to be travelling during the war and eventually stationed on the Navy ship USS New Hampshire possibly for training.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of letters from Emory James Hall mostly addressed to his mother in Athens, GA during the time of World War I. Some of the letters are sent from the USS New Hampshire.
