Scope and Content

The collection consists of two small photographs of predominantly African American chain gangs in Thomasville, Georgia. One photograph depicts chained men carrying shovels and other work implements on their shoulders, as they march by the "Mitchell House." A second photograph depicts chained men wearing striped jumpsuits, working at the edge of a grove of trees.
