Historical Note

George W. Johnson was owner of the Eagle and Phoenix Manufacturing Company, a textile mill in Columbus, Georgia.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of two volumes containing formulas for dying cottons, woolens, carpet shoddy, leather, and mixing inks. Each volume contains an index, and lists type of material to be dyed and formulas for various colors.
