Collection Description

Scope and Content

The collection consists of clippings, a cigarette card from W. Duke Sons & Co., and a ticket to the unveiling of the Ben Hill statue in Atlanta on May 1, 1886. The clippings are from the "Atlanta Constitution" and the "Macon Telegraph" in the 1880s pertaining to the sermons of Rev. De Witt Talmadge, Rev. J. Benson Hamilton, and Dr. Henry McDonald; the deaths of Henry Grady and Jefferson Davis; and a column by Bill Arp ("Arp has something to say about the race question").
