While still living in Whitmire, SC, Mrs. Lewis determined to take her 5 children on a trip to California by car. This worked well and she later took them to the World's Fair in NYC. She wrote to several newspapers while on the trips and helped to pay some of their expenses. This material shows how she organized such and includes correspondence from readers who enjoyed the articles about the trips.
