Collection Description

Historical Note

George Washington Morrison Nutt (1844-1881), was a precocious and talented little person who was engaged by Phineas T. Barnum to perform at the American Museum in 1862. Nutt was also the coachman for Tom Thumb.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of correspondence, mostly fan mail, a pair of gloves, and one photocopy of the will of Major Rodnia Nutt, photographs, and several cartes de visites.
