The collection consistts of a census of Captain Clayton's District (or Eastern District), territory ceded by the United States to the State of Georgia, ca. 1802. Research indicates this area may have been in the area that became the first Walton County, Georgia (now Transylvania County, North Carolina). Signed by Richard Williamson, the census lists the names of heads of families, number of whites, number of blacks, and total population.
