Collection Description

Historical Note

Livy Carlton was the daughter of Hon. and Mrs. H. H. Carlton and later became the wife of Major George P. Butler. She died in 1917.

Scope and Content

A scrapbook signed on verso of front cover "Livy Carlton 'Cloverhurst'. Lucy Cobb Institute. 1894. Athens, Ga." This scrapbook essentially consists of cutouts of advertisements of the period with autograph verses of scripture relating to the pictures. There are also inserted several newspaper clippings and colorful advertising cards. Twelve leaves are filled with pasted-on items while other materials are inserted interlinearly on the blanks.
