The collection consists of a variety of materials donated by the author after her induction into the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame in 2010. It consists of manuscripts, correspondence, posters, and many other materials pertaining to her lengthy career. The bulk of the manuscript material document her fictional works in the children and young adult genres, while also highlighting some non-fiction works and poetry collections. Occasional book cover designs and poetry chapbook layouts are also included with the manuscripts. Also included are materials related to Cofer's professional career as a teacher and author, with correspondence, notebooks and journals.

Georgia House of Representatives Communications House Records, Series VIII. Audiovisual Materials includes two compact discs, 1,284 audiocassettes, 236 digital audio tapes (DAT), 603 quarter-inch open reel audio tapes, and 66 VHS videocassettes, documenting the regular and special sessions of the Georgia House of Representatives, as well as some Senate proceedings. The audio reels primarily document the daily activities on the floor of the House during regular and special sessions from 1975 to 1998. The audio cassettes, from 1974 to 2004, focus more extensively on budget hearings and committee meetings, most notably those of the Appropriations Committee.

The DeKalb County School Desegregation Case Files document the work of the law firm Weekes & Candler defending the DeKalb County Schools in litigation over school desegregation from 1968 to 1997. The files document the progression of the case from the perspective of the defendants, the demographic makeup of students and to a lesser extent all of DeKalb County during this period, and the evolution of school desegregation case law. The majority of the files are pleadings, exhibits, and data about the school system, as well as other kinds of legal documents, research, and correspondence. Common subjects include attendance boundaries, the DeKalb County Schools policies and procedures, enrollment numbers of students including race, the quality of education, and statistics about teachers and staff.

Richard B. Russell, Jr. Oral History Project includes The collection consists of 175 oral history interviews relating to the personal and political life of Richard B. Russell. Interviewees include members of the Russell family, his staff and interns, other senators and public figures, and friends. The primary interviewer was Hugh Cates, a public relations manager at Southern Bell and secretary of the Russell Foundation (1977-1981). Most of the interviews were recorded between 1971 and 1979, but the majority during 1971 after Senator Russell's death. Other interviewers outside of the Russell Foundation Oral History Project include: William Stueck, Karen Kelly, Barboura Raesly, Robert G. Stephens, Jr., Dwight L. Freshley, Tom Jackson, Angus Hepburn, and Russell Library staff. Interviews provide insight into Senator Russell's political career as State Representative, Governor, and U.S. Senator, his views on various topics such as civil rights and Vietnam, and his personality and family life. The Ed. L Jenkins Papers documents the political career of Congressman Ed Jenkins who represented Georgia's Ninth District (Northwest Georgia) from 1977 to 1992. Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives, Jenkins worked as a trial lawyer in Jasper, Georgia. During his tenure in the House of Representatives, Jenkins served on several committees including: the Ways and Means Committee where he was involved with the Trade Subcommittee, the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, the Budget Committee, the Steering and Policy Committee, and the House Select Committee to Investigate Covert Arms Transactions during the Iran-Contra Hearings. Jenkins was an advocate of the textile industry in Georgia. He served on both the Textile and Congressional Rural Caucus to represent the needs of the industry and his constituents. Legislation of particular interest in this collection includes the Textile and Apparel Trade Enforcement Act of 1985, the Caribbean Basin Initiative, the Tax Reform Act of 1986, and Ronald Reagan's Balanced-Budget Amendment. Other topics of interest in this collection includes files on the Chattahoochee National Forest Preservation, lake and water resources, agriculture, textiles, domestic trade, taxation, and the Iran-Contra Hearings.
